ITHACA FEST!

posted Jun 1, 2012 10:50 AM by Meghan Fouracre

The Parade yesterday was fantastic!  Thanks to all who marched and drummed with us and supported us on the sidelines.

As a change this year, we'll be getting Saturday going with an Open Community Drum Circle from noon-1pm in Dewitt Park!!  This will be in lieu of our regular Saturday circle in Stewart Park.
Saturday stick around for Wassa Pan Afrika Dance Ensemble at Bernie Milton Pavilion at 4:30!
Enjoy the festival, and don't forget to purchase your festival buttons or t-shirts.

Memorial Day Weekend

posted May 24, 2012 1:10 PM by Meghan Fouracre

This Saturday we are meeting for open drum at Stewart Park in the Northwest corner, 4pm until dusk.  Last week our usual location was taken up by a birthday party so please stay in contact with each other if we need to find another spot.

This sunday evening Chris and I are hosting a picnic for our anniversary starting at 4:30.  Totally kickback casual, we'll have hamburgers, hotdogs, salad etc, but feel free to bring something to throw on the grill or a side to share.  This is a kid friendly event and we'll have the firepit going for some drumming.  Please email me for the address or directions: meghan@oneheartcommunitydrumming.org.

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY, THIS COMING THURSDAY MAY 31 ITHACA FESTIVAL PARADE!!!!
We are marching #2 behind the Mayor and his entourage, followed by the Stiltwalkers.  Please join us for drumming in the parade or watch us from the sidelines.  I've still got T-shirts if anyone needs one.  Oh yea, the festival organizers are expecting everyone in the parade to be wearing a festival button.  They are $5 and can be purchased at wegmans and other places, but they will probably have them available when we get there.  If you are marching in the parade, our staging area is the intersection of Cayuga and Lewis St. Meet there at 5:30, parade go time is 6:30.  Parking is always nuts so plan accordingly.  Finally we will not have a truck this year so bring a drum you can march with.  Any questions, let me know.

Happy Weekend!

Weekend of May 18, 2012

posted May 18, 2012 10:36 AM by Meghan Fouracre

Dear One Heart Community:

Sorry for the lack of communication last weekend.  It sounds like there was a pretty good drum circle last Saturday. Thanks to all who contributed their energy.

Looks like Spring is here to stay for now.  Saturday should be gorgeous.  We will meet for Open Drumming at Stewart Park in the Northwest Corner from 4pm until dusk.  Potluck is optional.  All ages and abilities are welcome.  Please bring a chair or two if you can, there seem to be fewer picnic tables in the NW corner than last year.

That's it for this weekend.  There are no official One Heart Circles for tonight or Sunday.  We are putting all our efforts into Saturday.

Anyway hope to see you all there.  If you are planning on drumming with us for the Ithaca Festival parade on May 31st, please try to come to the park Saturday so we can discuss what we are doing.

Weekend of May 4

posted May 4, 2012 1:23 PM by Meghan Fouracre

We have use of LACS tonight, May 4 for drumming starts at 6.  Not sure which room we will be in but Chickie will have signs.

Weather looks good for tomorrow (Sat) in Stewart park.  Come down to the northwest corner as early as 3. I will be late for this.  Bring chairs if possible.  We will stay until dusk as weather permits.  Looking forward to Saturday's Super-Moon, the "largest" full moon in 2012.

Sunday at FOL on Turkey Hill Rd might be available but we'll see how Sat goes and play Sunday by ear.

Love to All

Update week of 4.26.12

posted Apr 26, 2012 12:37 PM by Meghan Fouracre

Greetings One Heart Community,
Here is your weekly update.

First off, thanks to JoanMarie Cartier for hosting two great drum circles at Fire on the Water Studios. It was really great to have an indoor location especially on Sunday when the Farmer's Market was just too cold to drum.

This week we are scheduled for FOW again on Friday 6-9. A little cold still for Stewart Park but it should be a nice sunny Sunday at Foundation of Light, open drum is from 2:30-6. Don't forget to make your donations, potluck and kids are always welcome.

We had a nice but casual Toddler Drum Circle today with lots of kids this morning at Jillian's Drawers. Celebrated a mention in the center page of the Ithaca Times. (not to mention photo of Madeleine and me on Djembe, wish the photo showed the drum off a little more though).

Ithaca Festival is coming up, and I say come one come all and join us to march in the Parade on Thursday May 31. Please start thinking about how you will carry your drum. Also we are encouraging the little ones to come on foot, in wagons, or strollers and we can give them some shakers. As an added incentive to march with us, you can get a One Heart T-shirt for only $5!!! Never have they been available at such a low price. (disclaimer sizes are extremely limited ;) but the first run t-shirts are going to be considered vintage once the second run comes out) We will also be featured in DeWitt Park Saturday Jun 2 at 12:30.

Think that's all for now.

Drumming this Friday and beyond

posted Apr 4, 2012 6:04 PM by Meghan Fouracre   [ updated Apr 6, 2012 10:22 AM ]

FRIDAY: Due to the school being closed, I'm offering to host drum circle at my place this Friday April 6 from 6-9.  If it's not too cold we might have a Fire and drum outside, otherwise there is space indoors. Looks like I'll be running the grill tonight so bring something to throw on if you want. 107 Indian Creek Rd, Ithaca If you need directions send an email to meghan.fouracre@gmail.com or call 607-398-0858.

SATURDAY:  Wayne is holding a drum circle at Level Green tomorrow from 4-9.  The address is 1519 Slaterville Rd.  Bring your own chair. This is an outdoor venue. Wayne says this will not be held if its cold or raining, but tomorrow is predicted to be clear and 50 degrees in the afternoon so I think it's on.

SUNDAY:  Foundation of Light is available Easter Sunday so that circle will be held as usual from about 2:30 or 3 until 6pm.
